Loretta Anderson and Agnes Ruiz
Photo by Mike Costello, May 27, 2005 at His House in Oaklyn
"In search of vintage historical photos of Fairview, my mother Anges Ruiz (nee Fedak) discovered that her friend Loretta Anderson had precious Fairview photos from the 1920s. Mike Costello graciously agreed to scan these photos at high resolution so that they could be available to you. Mike took notes on each photo. I later spent over an hour on the phone with Loretta discussing the photos and taking additional notes. So, we are confident that the information found with each photo is quite accurate." Michael J. Ruiz, Webmaster

In 1924, Loretta Anderson lived in the house on Minnesota across the street from St. Joan of Arc, which was both the Church and school in those days. See the light-colored roof near the tree at the intersection across from the upper main building of the photo. The three structures at the left: rectory (upper left of photo), garage structure with shrine in front, and Church (large building lower left of center) were not built. This region was an empty lot on which the Anderson kids and neighbors would play. The houses with the reddish roofs in the lower part of the picture, across the street from the Church, served as a rectory and convent in the 1920s.
