Gloria Anne Long (Married Name Tomar)
December 23, 1945 - December 31, 2007

"We lived in the Crescent Garden Apartments (Braxton Walk from 1956 to about 1959 and 3254 Rodney Walk from 1959 to 1967). Gloria graduated from SJOA in June 1960 and lived at Rodney Walk until 1963 (she graduated SJHS in June 1963). My Mom and I lived there until 1967 (when I graduated from SJHS).

"Gloria entered the Dominican Sisterhood in September 1963. She was then known as Sister Theresa Mary and after Profession taught in Woodbury, Sacred Heart (Camden) and Haddon Heights until 1974 when she left the convent.

"She then became a public school teacher in East Camden and had a son, John, who is a Naval Officer. After she married, Gloria taught in Bellmawr, had another son, Jeff, who is also in the Navy. Having moved to Stratford, she returned to parochial school as a teacher at St. Luke's in Stratford where she taught until 1992-1993. Then she was diagnosed with Leukemia and was too ill to teach. The last few years she was very involved in senior citizen activist works and local politics.

"She was brave and so caring for others. Even during one of her last hospitalizations, one of the priests from St. Luke's came to visit her and Gloria asked him to be sure to visit her roommate, as Gloria susptected the roommate could use a kind shoulder. Sure enough, Father Matt visited the roommate before he left and felt he made a difference in the roommate's outlook, all because my dear sister worried more about the roommate than herself." Mary (Long) Hultz, Gloria's Sister (January 8, 2008)
